Small Claims Court is an informal court where individuals can sue for money; up to $3,000, with or without an attorney. Small Claims cases must be filed with the Court office in the Town where the defendant lives or has a place of business. When filing a Small Claims case, the claimant must provide the name and address of the person or business being sued. You should be prepared to give a brief statement of the facts that form the basis of your claim. You will be required to pay a filing fee based upon the claim amount.
